Bachata Battle
Masters League
- The Bachata Battle Masters League is a solo dance competition designed to spotlight personal style, creativity, and musical connection in the world of bachata. Unlike partner-based formats, here you shine on your own — it's about how you interpret the music, move with confidence, and stand out from the crowd.
- The event begins with a freestyle preselection known as the cypher. All registered dancers enter the floor in a large circle and freestyle to curated bachata music. Judges carefully observe and select the Top 16 dancers based on their understanding of bachata fundamentals, body movement quality, connection to musical accents, and stage presence.

Once the Top 16 are chosen, the real battle begins. Dancers face off one-on-one in a bracket system. Each round uses different music to challenge their versatility:
• Round of 16: modern bachata hits
• Quarterfinals: traditional bachata
• Semifinals: sensual/modern tracks with musical accents
• Final: each dancer performs two rounds to contrasting songs, designed to push expression and musical storytelling to the limit. -
Judges evaluate dancers based on three weighted categories:
Bachata Foundations — clear footwork, authentic body movement, and grounded energy
Musicality — how well dancers react to rhythm changes, pauses, and instrumentation
Presence & Style — confidence, originality, creativity in using space, and connection with the audience
Judges may provide live feedback and may call for a tiebreaker if needed. -
The competition also comes with epic rewards:
🥇 1st place: 100€ in cash, 2 full festival passes, and the opportunity to teach at the Explosion Festival 2026 — one of Europe’s biggest bachata events!
🥈 2nd place: 3 full passes
🥉 3rd place: 2 full passes
Winners not only get recognition — they become part of the growing bachata solo movement. - Most importantly, this league is built on community and respect. All dancers are welcome — regardless of style, experience, or identity. We stand for good vibes, support, and honest expression. Bad sportsmanship or discrimination won’t be tolerated.
